Reel vs Reality: The fake world of Social Media

Reel vs Reality: The fake world of Social Media

The Nisha Rawal allegations on husband Karan Mehra has added another episode in the contrast of Reel Life vs The life. Nisha has accused her husband of thrashing her. Some online reports have claimed about the accusation of Karan being involved with other woman too. The veracity of allegations can only be ascertained once the preliminary enquiries are done in this matter and hence let authorities do their job with us not being a judge and conduct a social media trial. Karan Mehra was a household name as Naitik , the lead protagonist in the serial “Ye Rishta Kya kehlata Hain”

This incident has again brough back the issue of Reel Life vs Real Life. There have been many incidents where we saw people being completely opposite to their onscreen portrayal. Its not about just actors but also for politicians, bureaucrats and even for a common man. We put on the mask of high values and morality, in our public lives but in personal lives, we may be the first person to break them without a thought. This contrast is justified on the concept of Image. Actors, Politicians and other professions are more about their public image, and hence they spend huge amount of money to keep it in line with positivity. No matter what they are in real life, the image to be displayed has to be ultra-good.

Instagram has helped to expand this business, actresses, models and influences, having that toned body and glowing face with smooth hairs and carefully crafter eyebrows, trying to make us believe that they are beautiful and amazing from outside and inside too. After hours of makeup, they want us to believe that they look like this all the time, even when they are not getting clicked by those expensive photographers with millions of image corrections by photoshop. These photoshopped fake images on Instagram truly depicts the contrast. These images spread a lie and make a common person believe that celebrities are from different planet.

Pre-Corona, I travelled from Mumbai to Delhi and came across a woman. Somehow, I knew who that woman was but my memory was not recollecting the exact identification after an hour thought, I identified her as a popular television actress. The reason I could not identify her, is the 180-degree difference between her onscreen face and real face. With due respect towards her, she appeared completely different from her actress face.

Pink, wake up, you are beautiful in every sense and much better than these fake faces and those fake insta image. You don’t need to fall for these fake social media images, at the end of the day, celebrities are no different. They do fight like us, they have got beauty problems like us on the contrary much more then us. They have to spend a lot of money to get those artificial plasticky insta images and reels.

Next time, you feel impressed or inferior after looking at an insta post or facebook post, remember it’s all fake.
