A Day Dedicated To Celebrate Computers

Computers play an important role in the lives of all. Though by definition it is a machine that is programmed to carry out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically it has become an integral part of our lives. We are dependent on it or would be right to say we are addicted to it.
Let's have a sneak peek into the history of computers
Early computers were meant to be used only for calculations. Early in the industrial revolution, some mechanical devices were built to automate long tedious tasks. The first digital electronic machines were developed during world war two. The first semiconductor transistors in the late 1940s were followed by silicon-based transistor and monolithic integrated circuit chip technologies in the late 1950s leading to the microcomputer revolution in the 1970s. The speed, power and versatility of computers have been increasing since then aiding in easing our jobs.
World Computer Literacy Day was launched by the Indian company NIIT to mark its 20th anniversary in 2001. Back then the majority of computer users were men. Every year it is observed on the 2nd of December and is intended to aid in the development of technological sleep among children and women. It aims to create awareness and drive digital literacy in underserved communities worldwide.
The day is directed towards the improvement of the teaching of information technology and the celebration of computers.
Computers are of utmost use to human life. They must be advertised in the right manner so that a larger population can benefit from them.
Every invention has its pros and cons. Make sure we use computers for good purposes and it will prove to be a boon to human life.
