A Woman and Her Beauty
She was beautiful for the way she thought. She was beautiful for that sparkle in her eyes when she talked about someone she loved. She was beautiful for her ability to make others smile even when she was sad. No, she wasn't beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful deep down in her soul...
‘Beautiful’, a word that has different perceptions for different people... Some relate it to the color of the skin… some to the heart... some to the smile… and so on. But this word ‘beautiful’ comes with a lot of stress, expectations, and redeemed self-confidence. Moreover, there is a lot of pressure from families, peers, and life partners to look and present oneself in a particular way. For society, beautiful is just related to outward appearance, and the physical attractiveness. Girls are toiling hard day and night to look beautiful by using fairness creams, oils, regular visits to parlors, and cosmetic surgeries, etc.
Keeping skin healthy and glowing is one's foremost responsibility towards self-love, but being overly obsessed by that is not at all appreciable. Why can't one feel comfortable and beautiful in her own skin? We all have some beautiful qualities but ignoring them, we concentrate on norms and standards which others have set for us. There are millions of men and women who don't have a fair skin, but have a fair heart and a fair soul. What is more important for you?
We need to understand that not everyone is physically beautiful, just like the way that not everyone can climb the Everest, not everyone can play cricket. Work on your talents, your strengths. Don't depend on others to tell you that you have a quality or you are beautiful in some sense or the other. Have that confidence and strength within you… you are born with those superpowers which no one else can ever attain in their lives. Be yourself… Love yourself… No one in this world can make you feel special or happy… Only you can do that for yourself..
Sharing what I read in a mom's group on WhatsApp… I totally loved it!
What makes you beautiful?
At the naughty age of 40, we had our school reunion... one of my friend mentioned - look at the girls, they are still looking so beautiful. Even today, I skipped a heartbeat looking at my crush. But the boys are looking so old... many are bald with protruding tummies & shrunken faces!
It made me think... what makes a person beautiful? Is it just looks? Obviously it's nice to look good... it may boost one’s confidence & social interactions… but is it enough?
I guess there is a vast difference between 'looking' beautiful & 'being' beautiful...
A lady who has disfigured her body during pregnancy, is now struggling with her complexes, but she is still the source of unconditional love for her family… she is beautiful!
A bald, obese man, who is facing multiple professional challenges, is the source of rock solid support for the family...is a beautiful person.
A working lady, stressing herself out with balancing work & home still finds time for her kids and family neglecting the high pressure is beautiful.
The fragrance of love & care spread by them is far superior than any strong perfume. Eventually, the beauty of body will fade away one day... but the beauty of the soul will not. Personally, how you 'look' matters for the first few minutes, but how you 'are' matters for the lifetime!
