Beauty with Brains - Is it a Myth or a Reality?
Beauty with Brains
Our eyebrows arch when we hear this right? Magazines and celluloid influence our perspectives in a myriad of ways. So it is a bit difficult to envisage an equitable amalgamation of the two concepts.
However, if I were to ask you, what do you think rules the roost? Beauty or brains, what would your answer be? Brains, of course, but what about those adages :
The first impression is the last?
Grossly unfair right? Do you think brains can win with the first impressions? Beauty takes over in this aspect. Isn't it what you are thinking? That is the reason we take so much trouble for an interview, a job application right or when being paraded for a bride viewing session? To look beautiful, isn't that our first desire? First impressions matter after all.
Well. You are wrong. First impressions can be won over by brains too. Being presentable is the need of the hour. I do not refute it. But your poise and personality along with your intellect prove to be a winner all the way.
Our perception of beauty has evolved over the ages. I find beauty in intellect. I find beauty in the nature and conduct of a person. Beauty encompasses a wider scope in modern times, thankfully breaching the epidermal layers. The varying concepts of beauty have undergone a sea change. Still, in some areas further changes needs to be brought about. The dogmatic attitude towards a beautiful face continues. Her brains invariably come later.
Let me elucidate with an example. One of my colleagues was a very hardworking girl. She was truly beautiful in all respects - inside out. A hardworking girl, she got promotions pretty soon. However, the bone of contention was her beauty, which according to some in the office, was put to her advantage. Noone credited her for her grey matter. Her beauty gradually proved to be a bane for her.
Why do we adhere to customised standards and moderation scales? Why can't a person possess both the attributes? Does beauty always play a role in influencing decisions? It is definitely food for thought.
It is heartening to see changes occurring in the realm of advertising and marketing nowadays. They are shifting towards a paradigm of newer thought processes. Dusky models are making their presence felt in the beauty industry and plus size models are sought out by reputed brands for developing a connect with the "REAL WOMAN". The winds of change are brewing for sure, yet in some areas, we need to change our mindset too.
Do not form opinions in minutes based on how a person looks.
Do not be judgemental or indulge in racism
Do not write off a beautiful person as being inherently dumb. For all that you know, they might surprise you by being beautiful in all aspects.
Is beauty skin deep? What's your honest take on it?
The pressure to look beautiful is always there on us. Sometimes, it is brought about by societal pressures and sometimes it is self inflicted. The key to happiness is to accept the way you are and carry yourself with grace and charm. Spread your inherent beauty all around and the world will bow before you.
Do remember though:
THERE IS A BEAUTY WITH A BRAIN IN ALL OF US .
LOVE THE WAY YOU ARE MEANT TO BE.
YOU ARE UNIQUE.
YOU ARE TRULY BEAUTIFUL
