Beep! A New Mail..
Opening the mailbox is fun,
Alleviating my gloomy spirit,
As pop ups arrive, knocking at my door,
Unread ones are marked bold,
Making me glee and excited,
Some I welcome instantly and heartily,
New friends and followers made,
Tagging done right for my various posts,
Congratulatory mails, only a handful,
And, those messages, spam and annoying.
I read and delete and save as I wish,
O, so much enjoyment it gives,
Killing time in an engrossing way.
Years ago when the mailbox was physically present,
When it took a long time to post and deliver,
Hand written letters carried that personal touch,
So much so that a negative one didn't badly hurt,
Refusal didn't stress out,
While the personal and positive ones,
How beautifully we preserved and even,
Memorised every letter of the letter.
Fraudulent activities were bare minimum,
And, despite of curiosity level reaching high,
We held onto utmost patience.
Alas! Today's 24*7 service doesn't give that feel.
Besides, a trap carefully laid for the hapless,
Privacy uncertain, emotions faked,
Few mails from faraway relatives,
And, as desperation to prove the best,
Do everything this very moment,
Swells, so does frustration and anxieties.
Now I really wonder,
Does opening the virtual mailbox
Give me so much happiness,
As the previous one?
