Doctors, academicians write letter to the government to re-open schools
The 2 years long pandemic and Covid-19 infection has taken a lot over our mental well being, our careers and financial positions. But, the ones who have suffered the most are our children.
The schools are closed since almost 16 months now and it has definitely taken a grudge over our the little ones' mental health, their poor concentration and low confidence levels. Their social skills have hampered a lot.
Thus, more than 50 doctors, academicians , parents and professionals from IIT Mumbai, Delhi and Delhi University wrote a letter to states Chief Ministers, The Ministry of Family Welfare , The Disaster Management Authority. The letter had marked the Prime Minister's Office too.
The signatories have demanded urgent reopening of schools.
They have mentioned that the covid -19 is here to stay and,in many countries have already opened their schools for the students, after following proper Covid protocols.
Thus, it is high time that with this global evidence, we must take into consideration the re-opening of schools as soon as possible.
They have highlighted a few points to ponder -
- The school teachers to be given vaccines on priority.
- Emphasizing on opening of pre-primary schools too.
- Small batches of classes should be started once or twice a week.
The letter has underlined that we need to remember that the reopening of schools is going to be a dynamic process.
