Sr. Simarn-TV actress avatar I can relate to..
“Astitva - Ek Prem Kahani”, a Hindi-language soap aired on Zee TV in 2002. Its a story that focus on the main character Dr. Simarn”, lady with grace, determination, persistence.
There was love, affection, drama, fight, grudges, happiness, theft, loot, murder, jail and what not…I mean it was a complete package for all sort of daily happenings. Simran, a gynecologist falling in love with a man 10 years younger to her, both marrying against wishes of family.
This is a story that has given due importance to all the characters and relation. Abhimanyu’s extra marital affairs but never ending love for Simran, mother in law shown in negative light; though she was not a bad lady but didn’t like Simran, their daughter Aastha who was the heart and life of Simarn but she lost her on a foreign trip.
Among other characters were Dr. Manas (a friend of Simran), his jealous wife-Urmila and many others appearing for short period.
Awww, so much of emotions and real life equations, I enjoyed in this program. As in real life people behave different in given situations so the serial shown people who were not really bad or really good. Abhi always loved Simran but was not a faithful husband. Simran was a faithful wife but was strict to her self-respect. Abhi was rising in his career but started taking a back seat in relationship when heard about Simran’s pregnancy.
Simran, is my favourite character. Don’t know why but I can very well relate to her- in personal and professional both lives.
I loved her acting, dialogue delivery, her voice that is powerful and full of emotions, beautiful plain sarees and her being independent even after losing her vision. Her keeping quiet or reacting here and there, balancing she maintained between work and relations.
Trust me this was a real treat and presentation of complex human life. I loved this program so much that watched the repeated telecast also and even today if I get to watch this, I will stop and spare that half n hour for Dr. Simarn.
