Things That I Lost
Losing things ain't an easy task,
instead of hiding behind a mask.
When I came into the world,
My wings were clipped so that I cannot soar high,
I lost my horizon, but still, I could fly.
My dress, education and career,
Nothing was lost, but some opportunities were sacrificed, at my cost.
When I got married, I realised life is not a bed of roses,
To the world, it was my huge gain,
For me, it was another game.
At every step, I gained something,
The game of losing and winning continues day and night,
That's what makes my life bright.
When motherhood embraced me,
I lost my peace and sanity,
At times, I question my abilities.
But motherhood is one journey,
Where my losses are more highly rated,
Because with every loss, I have just gained more and more.
A mother loses her complete self,
To raise her child and give her the best,
It's surely a difficult test,
But it puts all my losses to rest.
I have lost plenty of emotions,
But I am proud of my affirmations.
Though I am tiny and broken,
The light of my resilience shines through my determination.
